Street Outreach: April 2020

Thank you for signing up to serve with SOCKS! Street Outreach Ministry is at the core of our mission and we thank you for helping us show love to those in need.

You may be asking, “What is outreach ministry?” Great question! Our mission is to demonstrate love to our friends experiencing homelessness by providing socks and other essential items that will improve health, provide comfort, and hopefully bring a smile to their heart. During outreach, we distribute socks, underwear, hygiene items, hugs, smiles, listening ears, and prayers. The goal is not to just distribute items but to remind the people we serve that they are not invisible.

We believe helping people experiencing homelessness is not an option, but a commandment from God. And we take the charge to care for our brothers and sisters is very seriously. Hence our foundational scripture, “For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to they needy, in thy land.” – Deuteronomy 15:11. This is why your commitment to join us in outreach is such a blessing. We appreciate you!

10:00 am – Outreach: The outreach method will vary and be conducted based on the plan for the day, the area to be canvassed, the type and amount of items to be distributed, the number of people attending, and how many (if any) youth are involved.
